Vijay Deverakonda says ‘dance is unfair to men because women don’t have to do anything’; Ananya Panday reacts: ‘What nonsense’

Vijay Deverakonda said that women have an unfair advantage while shooting dance sequences as their good looks do most of the work. His Liger co-star Ananya Panday disagreed.

Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday, who are busy promoting their upcoming film Liger, talked about the toughest part of shooting the film. While both actors agreed that performing the dance sequences was the most difficult, Vijay said that “dancing is biased against women” as they have an unfair advantage.

After embarking in Mumbai, the Liger stars stopped by for an interview with Mirchi Films. Vijay said that the dance was really difficult because, “The dance is a bit unfair to the men because the women look beautiful so they don’t have to do anything and it looks nice, whereas we have to find the right angles and stuff.” The dance is very biased towards women. You have the hair that will do half the dance.”

Ananya reacted quickly enough as she disagreed with her colleague. She said, “Please, what nonsense.” It’s hard for anyone to dance when you have two left feet like me.” Recently, the duo appeared on Koffee with Karan where they opened up about their personal and professional lives. On the show, Ananya expressed her views on Vijay’s controversial film Arjun Reddy. The film was hotly debated for its gender politics, which were seen by many as problematic. While Vijay said he did not agree with the character’s outward violence against women in the film, he said it was a prerequisite for him to empathize with every character he plays. Ananya countered, “Honestly I feel like when people came to him (Vijay Deverakonda), then I’m sure there are people like that. I’m just not surrounded by those people. And I wouldn’t advise any of my friends to be okay with that. But, that’s just the way I am .”

Liger marks Vijay’s Bollywood debut. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film stars Mike Tyson, Ramya Krishnan and Ronit Roy among others. The film should hit theaters on August 25.
